Failure of our social agencies??

We all remember the tragic death of Baby P (Peter Connelly) back in 2007 and in the years following there was a question on everyone’s lips: Who is to blame??

The Sun today tells us that a Serious Case Review of Baby P’s death has found that not just the Social Workers are to blame. The review blames doctors, lawyers and even police.

The review concludes little Peter Connelly died because of a catalogue of errors and sloppiness committed by “almost all the staff in every agency involved”.

It describes them as “incompetent” and dismisses their approach to the case as “completely inadequate”.

Had they done their jobs properly, the report says, Peter could have been saved in the early days of the abuse by his mother, her lover and their lodger.

Serious Case Reviews (SCR) are undertaken when a child dies and abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor in the death.
